This policy explains what personal information Ndakum Consulting Services ("Ndakum," "we," "us," or "our") collects through this website and our services, how we use and share it, the choices you have, and your rights under applicable privacy law.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide to us. We collect personal information you submit directly, including:

• Name, email address, and phone number (contact form, consultation requests)
• Company name and message content when you contact us
• Resume, cover letter, LinkedIn/portfolio URL, and employment history (job applications via our Careers page)
• Any information you choose to share in a conversation with our AI chat assistant

Information collected automatically. When you browse this site, we and our service providers may automatically collect technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, referring URLs, and approximate location, generally through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5).

2. Sensitive information

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, health information, or the results of criminal background checks through this website. Please do not include this type of information in a contact form submission, chat message, or job application unless specifically requested as part of a hiring process.

3. How we use your information

• To respond to inquiries and schedule consultations
• To evaluate and communicate with you about job applications
• To operate our AI chat assistant, which uses your message content (and relevant website content) to generate a response via a third-party AI provider (see Section 4)
• To improve this website, understand how it's used, and maintain its security
• To send service-related communications, and marketing communications where you've consented and haven't opted out
• To comply with legal obligations, and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

4. When and with whom we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information in these circumstances:

• Service providers who help us operate this site and our business — including form processing (Formspree), email and productivity (Google Workspace), hosting (Vercel), and our AI chat assistant's underlying model provider (Anthropic). These providers only receive the information needed to perform their function and are contractually restricted from using it for other purposes.
• Legal and safety reasons — where required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
• Business transfers — if Ndakum is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functionality and, where you consent, for analytics. When you first visit this site, you'll be asked to accept or decline non-essential cookies via a cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser settings.

• Essential cookies — required for basic site functionality (e.g., remembering your cookie preference itself). These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the site, only set if you accept them.

6. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect the information you share with us. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy — for example, contact form submissions and job applications are generally retained to respond to your inquiry or consider you for current and future roles, unless you ask us to delete it sooner, or for as long as required by law.

8. Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

9. Your privacy rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or UK (GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to data portability, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Our legal bases for processing include your consent, performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in operating and improving our business.

If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, or another U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law: you may have rights to know what personal information we've collected about you, to access or obtain a copy of it, to correct inaccuracies, to delete it, to opt out of certain processing (including targeted advertising or profiling, where applicable), and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. California residents also have rights under the "Shine the Light" law regarding information shared with third parties for direct marketing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and some rights are subject to exceptions under applicable law.

10. Do-Not-Track signals

Most browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. There is currently no common industry standard for how businesses should respond to DNT signals, so this site does not currently respond differently to browsers with DNT enabled.

11. Job applicants & recruiting

If you apply for a role through our Careers page, we collect the contact details, resume, cover letter, and other information you submit, along with anything shared during interviews or reference checks. We use this information to evaluate your candidacy, communicate with you about the role, and comply with employment-related legal obligations. We retain applicant information for as long as necessary to consider you for the role applied to and, unless you ask us not to, for future openings. As an applicant, you have the same access, correction, and deletion rights described in Section 9.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date.
